Freelance -French-speaking Sr. Functional Analyst

For a client in Brussels, we are looking for an experienced French-speaking Senior Functional Analyst for a long-term assignment within a large-scale business transformation program. You will join an Agile environment where you will contribute to the handover, refactoring and greenfield development of business-critical applications. You will be responsible for the complete functional analysis lifecycle and work closely with business stakeholders, developers and project management to deliver high-quality business solutions.

• Start: ASAP
• End Date: 31/12/2026 (extension possible, purchase orders renewed every 3 months)
• Location: Brussels
• Hybrid: 2 days onsite, 3 days remote
• Language Requirements: French (fluent) and English (professional working proficiency)
• Nationality: Belgian nationality is mandatory

Challenges

• Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, project teams and partners
• Identify, analyse, document and validate existing business processes as well as new functional and non-functional business requirements
• Translate business requirements into functional analyses and application designs
• Collaborate closely with technical teams to validate functional designs and translate them into technical specifications
• Perform end-to-end follow-up of new functionalities and application deliveries
• Produce all required project documentation throughout the different project phases
• Work closely with business analysts, developers and project management to refine and validate proposed solutions
• Report project status, facilitate decision-making, identify risks and escalate issues when necessary

Who are you and what do you bring?

Must-haves

• Proven experience as a Senior Functional Analyst
• Strong background in Business Analysis and Functional Analysis
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to quickly understand complex business domains
• Experience producing:
  • Functional analysis documentation
  • Software Requirements Specifications (SRS)
  • Data models
  • User Stories
  • Test plans and test cases
• Strong knowledge of UML
• Experience with BPMN
• Knowledge of Test Analysis & Design
• Basic knowledge of SQL
• Experience with stakeholder management and requirements gathering
• Excellent communication skills in French
• Professional English skills, especially for technical documentation
• Experience coaching or supporting junior team members
• Good understanding of technical concepts including:
  • APIs
  • Mappings
  • Business models
  • Services
  • Batch processing
• Customer-oriented, solution-driven and a strong team player

Nice to have

• Experience with Confluence
• Knowledge of Customer Journey analysis
• Experience with JIRA
• Understanding of Java/J2EE environments to facilitate communication with development teams
• Familiarity with Oracle, Hibernate, Maven, Git, JUnit and Selenium
• Knowledge of the second Belgian national language
